Detroit Chinchillas began in early 2009 with the purchase of four chinchillas as pets in an apartment. Eventually, we moved into our current home, built some new cages and acquired more chinchillas. We now have around 150 breeding aged chinchillas! Our animals are socialized right from birth, with us holding them and introducing them to their chinchilla neighbors.
We specialize in breeding of various colors of chinchilla. We breed for standard grey and most mutation colors of chinchillas. We
All of our chinchillas are fed Producer's Pride Premium Rabbit Feed and supplemented with Calf Manna. They are given fresh food, water, and hay daily. When you buy a chin from us we also include two pounds of food, one pound of pressed hay cubes, a half pound of loose hay, and about a third of a pound of dietary supplement. We'll also give you a carrier, if you need one, to bring your new pet home in. The last things we include are a Chinchilla Care Booklet and a voucher for a one year membership to the online owners and breeders community The Chinchilla Club.
As we run our business out of our home, we don't have any set hours. We are available most days by appointment only.
